Piotr Kajak is an assistant professor and deputy director of the Polonicum Centre of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners at the University of Warsaw where he teaches Polish as a foreign/second/heritage language. He is also an expert of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and an examining board member of the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language issued by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. 

He obtained his PhD in Cultural Studies and Polish as a Foreign Language at the University of Warsaw. Among others, he edited a textbook of Polish for Ukraine "Raz, dwa, trzy i po polsku mówisz Ty! Podręcznik do nauki języka polskiego dla dzieci i młodzieży na Ukrainie" (2015-2019). Since 2022, he has been the head of the research group Polish Language and Culture in East and South Asia. His research interests include second/foreign language acquisition, culture pedagogy in SLA/FLA, teaching Polish as a foreign/second/heritage language, popular culture in SLA/FLA, Polish popular culture,  hip-hop culture, and the aca-fan approach.
